Summary of profile:

After leaving school, I originally studied electrical and electronic engineering at Borough Polytechnic before starting my career at Hadens in the design department. Following on from Hadens, I worked at several companies before undertaking an Honours Degree in Energy Engineering when I was in my 30s.

I chose this specific mechanical engineering degree as I wanted to understand the wider implications of how buildings operate and was also very interested in sustainable design. Throughout my career, the combination of my electrical experience and my understanding of mechanical engineering has been invaluable as the lead role and project manager on vast numbers of construction projects.

I have a real passion for sustainability and designing for the future. As a good communicator and a team player with a wide range of experience, I am able to influence other design team members in achieving excellence in sustainability as well as the quality of output at each stage of the design process.

Outside of engineering

Outside the hustle and bustle of the office, I like a quiet life. I live in a small village with my wife and when not visiting grandchildren I can usually be found gardening, doing DIY or writing.
