On 25th January 2018, our Managing Director, Simon Flatt, will be embarking on a 100km trek through the Arctic Circle, in extreme conditions, as part of a team made up of six Captains of the Construction Industry.
His inspiration for this challenge lies with the children’s charity ‘Dreams Come True’ which is an incredible organisation that works extremely hard to fulfil children’s dreams. The charity enables the children to embark on amazing journeys, holidays and experiences that they would otherwise not be able to undertake.
The story of 13-year-old Naomi really captivated Simon’s attention. Naomi was sadly diagnosed with leukaemia in 2014 and has since displayed an incredible amount of strength and positivity whilst undergoing intensive treatment including a stem cell transplant.
After reading her story, Simon felt a compelling need to make her dream come true.
With just a week to go, training is in full swing and final arrangements are taking place in preparation to battle freezing conditions of up to -40 degrees, trekking for 12 hours a day with equipment in tow.
Since setting up his donation page, Simon has received an overwhelming amount of generous support & donations that are all hugely appreciated. With just a few more, Simon will be one step closer to reaching his target ahead of this great challenge.

Naomi wrote to Dreams Come True, saying “I’ve always dreamed of going to Hawaii, ever since I was little. Mum used to tell me stories of how spectacular it was. I’d like to take my brother Oscar because he bravely donated his bone marrow to me to save my life. If I go to Hawaii I’d like to see the stars at Mauna Loa, swim with dolphins, walk on top of the volcano and learn traditional Hawaiian dancing.”
